Hoover was one of the Sanctuary's most loved and popular cats. He passed away on February 19th, 2004 after battling an
unknown illness for two weeks. He was an FIV positive cat with diabetes. His health deteriorated very quickly and we were
not able to determine what caused the failure. Cancer, diabetes, infection, leukemia - everything we tested for was ruled
out. He had the best care available. Dr. Giffoni at Companion Pet Clinic on Mill Plain in Vancouver, WA and Dr. Mack at Northwest
Veterinary Specialists in Clackamas were not able to come up with a cause after extensive testing. He was also treated at
St. Francis Animal Hospital. We spent over $3000.00 in the last week of his life to try and determine how we could help Hoover
and the tragedy could not be diverted.
Hoover will always hold fond memories for everyone who knew him. He was such an easy going cat even though he was under
constant medical care for his diabetes and FIV. He loved his humans and fellow Sanctuary cats. He even enjoyed his trips to
see his friends at the veterinary clinic! Hoover's love of kittens was especially endearing. He always took little ones under
his wing, teaching them the proper methods of kitty play and kept them perfectly groomed. The perfect father figure.
His passing has been difficult for all of us but his wonderful memories will always bring a smile.
As with Hoover, Chapple Hill Cat Sanctuary will always do whatever they can to assure quality of life for cats that find
their way to us. Unfortunately these wonderful creatures have often been through many tradgedies before they reach us. Our
dream is to help as many as we can. We appreciate any donations that can help us in our cause.
